"My kidney disease makes me a burden—dialysis patient is all I am to anyone now."
How it sounds in your head: Three days a week hooked to a machine. Can't travel, can't be spontaneous. Everyone's life revolves around my treatment schedule. Just a burden counting down to transplant or death.
"Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:4-5Enemy twists necessary treatment into identity prison, making medical dependence feel like total life definition.
Dialysis schedule dominates family life and creates visible, undeniable dependence. Loss of independence after lifetime of self-sufficiency creates shame spiral.
Blind man needed help just to get TO Jesus—completely dependent on others, led by the hand, couldn't function independently. Jesus touched him, and INSTANTLY he saw clearly—dependence erased in one moment, no process, no gradual improvement.
I REFUSE the lie that dialysis makes me a burden or defines my identity. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished at the cross, not dependent on my kidney function. I am NOT 'dialysis patient'—I am BELOVED SON, covered by the BARAK blessing that promises 'blessed in the city and in the field,' and that includes medical facilities. The blind man at Bethsaida was completely dependent, led by others—one touch from Jesus and he saw CLEARLY. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Himself said 'I give them eternal life, and they shall NEVER perish'—my life isn't measured by GFR numbers but by HIS ETERNAL GRIP on me. This treatment is temporary; my sonship is FOREVER.
The Father doesn't see you as a burden on a machine—He sees you as the son worth RUNNING toward, worth the fattened calf, worth the celebration. The prodigal came home depleted and needy; the Father didn't hesitate or calculate cost—He threw the party IMMEDIATELY because sonship isn't based on independence.
