"My introversion is selfishness; real Christians are outgoing and evangelize constantly."
How it sounds in your head: The extroverts at church seem so on fire while I recharge alone. I must be spiritually immature because I don't want to talk to strangers about Jesus. Maybe I love myself more than the lost.
"After the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice."
-- 1 Kings 19:12Religious culture that equates extroversion with spiritual maturity, American evangelicalism's bias toward personality evangelism.
Every sermon about the Great Commission shows extroverted examples. Her small group leader said 'comfortable Christians stay quiet' while she genuinely needs solitude to function.
Moses told God 'I am slow of speech and slow of tongue'—he was NOT a natural communicator. God didn't fix his personality; He used him to deliver an entire nation and write the first five books of the Bible.
I REFUSE the lie that introversion equals spiritual failure. IT IS WRITTEN that God speaks in a still small voice—He values whispers, not just shouts. My need for solitude isn't selfishness; it's the way God designed my soul to recharge and hear Him clearly. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13 that I'm redeemed from the curse and blessed with Abraham's BARAK—a blessing that never required extroversion. Moses was slow of speech; Elijah retreated to caves; Jesus Himself withdrew to lonely places. I am righteous, loved, and perfectly wired for the assignments God has for ME.
Father isn't waiting for you to become chatty before He uses you. He's already written assignments that require your specific depth, your contemplative nature, your ability to listen longer than you speak.
