"I'm too messy and disorganized. Godly girls are put-together and have everything in order."
How it sounds in your head: My room is always a disaster. I forget things. I can't keep up with organized girls who have perfect planners and clean desks. Maybe I'm just lazy and undisciplined.
"For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
-- 1 Samuel 16:7Enemy + religion: Using Pinterest-perfect Christianity and works-based approval to convince her that God's love is contingent on her organizational system.
She compares her chaotic backpack to her friend's color-coded binder and feels like a failure. She hears adults praise 'responsible' organized kids and assumes her mess means she's irresponsible.
While Martha stressed about perfect hospitality and organization, Mary sat at Jesus' feet ignoring the chaos—and Jesus defended her, saying she chose what mattered. Her 'mess' was proximity to Him, and He called it the better choice.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth depends on organization. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord looks at the heart, not the desk, and my messy room doesn't change how He sees me. I am not lazy. I am LOVED. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus defended Mary when she ignored the housework to sit with Him—presence over perfection. I declare the BARAK blessing over my life—I am blessed in the chaos, blessed in the mess, blessed coming in with scattered papers and going out with a heart that seeks Him. The Father doesn't love me more when my room is clean. He loves me COMPLETELY, right now, exactly as I am. My identity is DAUGHTER, not my organizational system.
The Father is running toward you past the piles of laundry, not waiting for you to clean up first. He's throwing the party in the messy room because YOU are what He celebrates, not your filing system.
