"My health issues are punishment—if I'd done things differently, I'd be well now."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe if I'd eaten better, exercised more, gone to the doctor sooner, prayed harder—this is my fault. My body is breaking down because of my past choices. I'm reaping what I sowed.
"Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
-- John 9:3Religion taught her that sickness is divine punishment and that her current suffering is karma for past failures.
She can trace legitimate lifestyle choices that contributed to her conditions, and religious teaching reinforced that 'you reap what you sow' means God lets you suffer consequences. Every new diagnosis feels like confirmation of divine judgment.
The woman hemorrhaged for 12 years, spending all her money on doctors who couldn't help, becoming ceremonially unclean and socially isolated. Jesus didn't ask about her past or her choices—she touched His garment and IMMEDIATELY the flow of blood dried up; she was healed instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that my sickness is punishment for past choices. IT IS WRITTEN that sickness is not about sin but about God's works being REVEALED. I am not under curse; I am under GRACE. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, already purchased at Calvary. Christ redeemed me from EVERY CURSE, and disease was part of that curse. My healing is not reward for perfect living; it's COVENANT RIGHT through His blood. I stand on the BARAK blessing: health is MINE by promise, not by performance. My body is being restored to bring Him GLORY, not to prove my worthiness.
The Father doesn't look at your body and tally your past mistakes to determine if you 'deserve' healing—He looks at you through the lens of Christ's finished work and runs toward you with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, eager to demonstrate that His mercy triumphs over judgment and His grace covers EVERY past choice.
