"My family's dysfunction means God's blessing skipped our generation and we don't qualify for promises."
How it sounds in your head: Other families have testimonies of breakthrough and blessing. We have divorce, addiction, and estrangement. Clearly God's favor is on other families, not ours. We're the exception to the promises.
"God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it."
-- Numbers 23:19-20Comparison lie from the enemy using visible circumstances to dispute covenant reality.
She compares her messy family to the pastor's family, the neighbor's family, the family in the Christmas card. The evidence of dysfunction feels like evidence of divine rejection.
Angel called Gideon 'mighty warrior' while he hid in a winepress, from the weakest clan, the least in his family. God called him blessed and mighty BEFORE any evidence appeared. The blessing wasn't based on current circumstances but on God's covenant declaration despite the dysfunction around him.
I REFUSE the lie that my family's mess disqualifies us from God's blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that God's blessing cannot be reversed by circumstances or behavior. My family is under the BARAK of Abraham by covenant through Christ's blood. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed us from EVERY curse so the BLESSING would rest on us. Dysfunction is temporary, but covenant is ETERNAL. I declare my family BLESSED in the city and country, coming in and going out, above and not beneath. The favor isn't on 'other families' - it's on MINE by blood-bought right.
The Father isn't comparing your family to others - He's seeing them through the blood that qualified them completely. Your mess doesn't disqualify the blessing any more than Jacob's deception or Abraham's lies did. He's already declared you BLESSED, and He doesn't take it back.
