"My family sees me as a burden now, not a blessing. This disease makes me worthless."
How it sounds in your head: They have to drive me to appointments, manage my medications, help with things I used to do myself. I see the strain. I'm not the patriarch anymore—I'm the project, the obligation.
"No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary."
-- 1 Corinthians 12:22Enemy accusation that value is determined by independence rather than covenant identity.
Increased dependence is visible and undeniable. Family members sacrifice time and energy for his care. Cultural messaging says burden equals worthless. He's shifted from giver to receiver.
Old, dependent, needing Joseph's provision—yet when Jacob entered Pharaoh's presence, HE BLESSED PHARAOH. The 'burden' blessed the world's most powerful king. His value wasn't in strength but in covenant he carried.
I REFUSE the lie that dependence equals burden. IT IS WRITTEN: weaker members are NECESSARY—I am necessary to my family. My value isn't in independence; it's in the covenant I carry and pass down. IT IS WRITTEN: the BARAK blessing of Abraham flows through me—I am a BLESSING to my family, not a burden. Like Jacob, though I need help, I BLESS those around me. My presence brings the presence of God. I am PATRIARCH, not project—NECESSARY, not worthless.
The Father doesn't see you as a burden to tolerate—He sees you as a blessing to steward, a carrier of covenant, a patriarch whose presence alone brings His favor to the family. Your weakness positions them to show His love.
