"My family is cursed—every generation has tragedy and loss, and it's coming for me too."
How it sounds in your head: Your great-grandfather died young. Your grandfather lost everything in a business failure. Your dad's life has been one tragedy after another. Your siblings are all struggling. It's like there's a dark cloud over your family. You're just waiting for your turn.
"Christ has REDEEMED us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the BLESSING of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus."
-- Galatians 3:13-14Source: Superstition and curse theology that ignores Galatians 3:13—Christ has REDEEMED us from the curse, making family curses powerless.
You can trace actual tragedy through multiple generations and it feels like a pattern too consistent to be coincidence. When bad things happen to you, it feels like confirmation that you're next in line.
Mephibosheth was crippled, from a fallen family (Saul's house was cursed and destroyed), hiding in poverty in Lo Debar (literally 'place of no pasture'—cursed land). David said 'I will show you kindness for Jonathan's sake' and INSTANTLY Mephibosheth ate at the king's table like one of the king's sons. From cursed lineage to king's table in one day. Covenant reversed curse.
I REFUSE the lie that my family is cursed and tragedy is my destiny. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ has REDEEMED me from the curse—every curse was nailed to the cross so the BLESSING of Abraham could come on me. I am NOT under curse. I am under the BARAK blessing by COVENANT, not by behavior. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, blessed coming in and going out. The Lord commands the blessing on my storehouse and everything I set my hand to. What came against my family STOPS with me because I am IN CHRIST, and IN HIM there is NO curse, only BLESSING. I am Abraham's seed and heir according to the PROMISE.
Your Father isn't watching tragedy stalk your family and saying 'I hope it skips you'—He's saying 'It STOPS at the cross. You're on the other side of the curse now. You're under the BLESSING.' He's not waiting to see if the pattern breaks. He BROKE it at Calvary. The ring on your finger says BLESSED, and no family history can remove it.
