"My disability is punishment for something I did wrong"
How it sounds in your head: Maybe you lied to your mom once. Maybe you were mean to your sister. Maybe you didn't pray enough. And now this is God's way of punishing you. If you had been better, maybe He wouldn't have let this happen.
"Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
-- John 9:3Religious karma teaching contradicting the finished work of the cross
Religion teaches consequences for sin, and disability feels like the ultimate consequence. The visible, unchanging nature of disability feels like permanent punishment.
Literal criminal being executed for his crimes. No time to fix his life, no good works, nothing to offer. Said 'Jesus, remember me' and INSTANTLY received 'Today you will be with Me in Paradise.' Zero punishment—only PROMISE.
I REFUSE the lie that my disability is punishment. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said this is NOT because of sin but so God's works can be revealed. Christ took ALL punishment on the cross—there is NO CONDEMNATION for me. I am not paying for past mistakes. I am FORGIVEN, LOVED, and FREE. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:14 that the record of debt was nailed to the cross and canceled. My disability is not a sentence—it's a PLATFORM for God's glory. I walk in the BARAK blessing that protected Abraham even when he LIED. The blessing isn't based on my behavior but on God's COVENANT.
Father isn't punishing you. He already punished Jesus IN YOUR PLACE—the full weight of every sin you'd ever commit was laid on Him. There is NO punishment left for you. Only LOVE. Only GRACE. Only the Father running toward you with the robe and the ring.
