"My dad abandoned me, so I'm unworthy of being pursued or cherished by any man."
How it sounds in your head: He left when I was seven and never came back. I've spent my whole life trying to be 'enough' for men to stay. My marriage feels like I'm auditioning daily. I'm terrified my husband will leave too because my own father couldn't even stay.
"For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth."
-- Isaiah 54:5Abandonment wound creating false identity of unworthiness.
The first man who should have stayed chose to leave. That feels like a verdict on her value that every relationship since has confirmed.
Abandoned pregnant in the desert by Abraham and Sarah—used, discarded, alone with a child and no future. God INSTANTLY met her, saw her, spoke to her, and she named Him 'The God Who Sees Me.' He provided water, promise, and a future in one encounter.
I REFUSE the lie that my father's abandonment defines my worth. IT IS WRITTEN that my MAKER is my husband and He will NEVER leave me nor forsake me. I am not defined by who left—I am defined by who STAYS: the God of the whole earth who calls me His BELOVED. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ, fully cherished, fully pursued, fully WANTED. I do not audition for love—I RECEIVE it as a daughter of the King. The BARAK blessing covers me: I am defended, protected, and favored.
The Father has been pursuing you since before your dad ever left. He's not waiting for you to prove you're worthy of staying—He's declaring you His BELOVED and wrapping you in covenant love that CANNOT be broken. You are not too much or not enough. You are HIS.
