"My church says medicine is worldly and if I truly believed, I'd be healed without it."
How it sounds in your head: My youth group talks about radical faith and people who were healed without doctors. I feel like a fake Christian sitting there with my prescriptions hidden in my backpack, knowing they'd judge me if they knew I was on medication.
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving."
-- 1 Timothy 4:4Source: Religious extremism that rejects medical science as lack of faith or worldly compromise.
The peer pressure and teaching from trusted leaders makes you feel like you're choosing the world over God every time you take your medication. You hide your medical care to avoid judgment and feel spiritually inferior to those who claim they 'just trust God.'
The Good Samaritan poured oil and wine on the injured man's wounds—medical treatment of that era. Jesus held up this medical care as an example of godly compassion, not as lack of faith. Practical medical help IS the loving, godly response to suffering.
I REFUSE the lie that medicine is worldly or opposes true faith. IT IS WRITTEN that every good gift from God's creation is to be received with thanksgiving, including medical compounds. Jesus praised the Good Samaritan for providing medical care to the wounded. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing is to be refused when received gratefully. My medication is God's provision through the intelligence He gave to scientists and doctors. The BARAK blessing includes wisdom and breakthrough in every field including medicine. I receive medical care as God's gift without shame or apology. I am blessed with both miraculous healing and medical provision.
Your Father gave humans the intelligence to discover medical treatments because He loves you and wants you well by every means possible. He's not offended by your medication—He's running toward you with provision through doctors' hands, celebrating every pill that helps you function and thrive.
