"My chronic pain keeps me humble and prevents me from becoming prideful."
How it sounds in your head: If I was healthy, I'd probably get arrogant. This pain keeps me dependent and broken before God. Maybe it's protecting me from worse sin.
"Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed."
-- 1 Peter 2:24Religion taught that God inflicts pain to maintain humility, making suffering seem like a character preservation strategy from Heaven.
The pain makes boasting impossible and creates constant need for God. It feels like a safeguard against the pride that comes with strength.
Disciples asked if his blindness was caused by his sin or his parents' sin—Jesus said NEITHER, just so God's works could be revealed. He healed him IMMEDIATELY, proving sickness isn't a character tool.
I REFUSE the lie that God keeps me in pain to prevent pride. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed. My humility doesn't come from suffering—it comes from knowing I'm righteous only because of HIS blood. Jesus took my pain in His body so I could walk in His health. IT IS WRITTEN that He Himself bore my sins and my sicknesses. Pain is not my pride prevention—grace is. I walk in divine health and overwhelming gratitude, not suffering and false humility.
The Father is running toward you with healing, not standing back inflicting pain to manage your ego. He already dealt with pride by making you righteous as a gift—you can't boast in what you didn't earn.
