"My chronic illness is who I am now—I'm a sick person, not the strong man I used to be."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone sees me as 'the sick kid' now. I used to be strong, athletic, the guy people counted on. Now I'm just my diagnosis. Coaches, girls, even my parents—they all see the disease first, me second. This is my identity forever.
"The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord will name."
-- Isaiah 62:2Enemy's identity theft—stealing your name and replacing it with a disease label to make you forget whose you are.
Medical forms, prescriptions, doctor appointments—everything labels him by his condition. His whole routine revolves around managing symptoms, and people constantly ask about 'his disease' instead of his life. The physical limitations are daily reminders that feel permanent.
Crippled in both feet since age five, living in exile, saw himself as a 'dead dog.' King David instantly restored him to royalty, gave him Saul's entire estate, and he ate at the king's table for life—not as 'the crippled guy' but as ROYALTY. His condition didn't change immediately, but his IDENTITY was transformed in one moment.
I REFUSE the lie that my disease defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall be called by a NEW NAME, the name the Father speaks over me—SON, BELOVED, OVERCOMER. I am not my diagnosis; I am hidden with Christ in God. This body may have limitations, but my IDENTITY is seated in heavenly places, far above sickness. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. I carry the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, and that Spirit identifies me as RIGHTEOUS, WHOLE, and VICTORIOUS. The BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine by covenant—the blessing that protected liars and deceivers now protects me, not because I'm perfect but because Jesus IS.
The Father is running toward you RIGHT NOW, not with a medical chart but with a ROBE of righteousness. He's not calling you by your symptoms—He's calling you by the name He gave you before you were born, a name that has nothing to do with disease and everything to do with DESTINY.
