"I'm the diabetic girl. I'm the one with chronic migraines. My illness is my identity now."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone knows me as 'the sick one.' I introduce myself with my diagnosis. When people see me, they see my disease first. I've become what's wrong with me instead of who I really am.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Enemy strategy to steal identity by replacing daughter-of-God with disease label, making condition permanent through agreement.
Medical system requires constant identification with diagnosis—insurance forms, doctor visits, school accommodations all label her by disease. Her daily reality revolves around managing symptoms, making the illness feel more real than her true identity.
She'd been 'the bleeding woman' for twelve years—her disease WAS her identity in that culture, making her permanently unclean and untouchable. Jesus called her 'DAUGHTER'—giving her a new identity in one moment, healing her instantly and restoring her to community.
I REFUSE the lie that my illness defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a new creation in Christ—old things, including disease identity, have passed away. I am NOT 'the sick girl'—I am a daughter of the Most High God, seated with Christ in heavenly places. My body may be experiencing symptoms, but my IDENTITY is hidden with Christ in God. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. I carry the BARAK blessing of Abraham—the same blessing that protected liars and deceivers protects me now. I am defined by whose I am, not by what attacks my body.
Your Father sees you running toward Him still wearing the hospital bracelet, still carrying pill bottles, still marked by diagnosis—and He's SPRINTING toward you with the ring of authority, robe of righteousness, calling you DAUGHTER, not patient. He's been preparing the fattened calf, planning your healing party, while you were still identifying with sickness.
