"My business failed, so I'm a failure and God won't bless me again."
How it sounds in your head: I tried to be like dad, to provide, to be the man. Now everyone knows I messed up. The guys at church probably think I'm stupid. God must be disappointed in me too.
"For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity."
-- Proverbs 24:16Enemy + religion: You are what you produce. One failure defines you forever.
His business actually did fail and people saw it happen. In his emerging provider identity, this feels like proof he can't be the man he's supposed to become.
Abraham had a famine hit his business plan in Canaan and lied to Pharaoh out of fear, yet God plagued Pharaoh and Abraham left RICHER with livestock and wealth. One business setback plus lying didn't stop the barak blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that my business failure defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that a righteous man falls seven times and rises again - I am righteous by Jesus' blood, not my balance sheet. My failed business doesn't make me a failure; I am a blessed son with the barak of Abraham on my life. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse so the blessing of Abraham comes on me. I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. My next venture is already blessed because HE blessed me, not because I performed perfectly. I am a comeback in progress.
The Father isn't calculating your losses - He's planning your multiplication. Like the prodigal who wasted everything, you get the ring of authority and the robe of identity the moment you turn toward home, not after you rebuild what you lost.
