"My brain won't shut off at night; I'm doomed to insomnia forever."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone else is asleep while I'm staring at the ceiling replaying every awkward thing I said today. My thoughts won't stop racing about school, friends who ignored me, and everything I'm worried about. I'll be exhausted tomorrow and the cycle never ends.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."
-- Psalm 127:2Enemy wants exhaustion to weaken you; world says anxiety is your identity now.
Your mind actually does race at night with real worries about social status, changing body, and figuring out who you are. The physical experience of lying awake feels like proof you're broken.
Elijah was suicidal, running from Jezebel, totally burnt out and terrified. God's solution wasn't 'fix your thoughts' - an angel TOUCHED him and he fell into DEEP SLEEP, then ate and slept AGAIN, supernaturally strengthened for 40 days.
I REFUSE the lie that my racing thoughts disqualify me from rest. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives His beloved sleep - and I am beloved, period. My identity isn't 'the kid who can't sleep' - I am a son with the BARAK blessing of Abraham where God commanded rest even in the wilderness. IT IS WRITTEN in Matthew 11:28 that Jesus gives rest to the weary, and I receive that NOW. My mind doesn't have to be perfect for the Father to grant supernatural sleep. I am not my anxiety - I am His rested, beloved son. Sleep is my covenant inheritance, flowing from connection to Jesus, not from controlling my thoughts perfectly.
The Father sees you lying there, thoughts spinning, and He's not disappointed in you - He's already running toward you with the gift of rest like the prodigal's Father ran with the robe. He touched Elijah into sleep when Elijah wanted to DIE - how much more will He give you rest right now, beloved son?
