"If I can't sleep it's because of unconfessed sin in my life"
How it sounds in your head: God is keeping you awake because there's something you haven't dealt with. Some sin you haven't confessed. Some unforgiveness. Some secret thing. He won't let you rest until you get right with Him.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious teaching that God withholds blessing based on perfect confession
The youth pastor said God disciplines those He loves, and maybe this insomnia IS discipline. Maybe you're being kept awake until you figure out what you did wrong and repent properly.
The thief had lived an entire life of crime, was literally dying as punishment, had ZERO time to clean up his life or confess every sin. Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—instant access based on faith alone.
I REFUSE the lie that God withholds rest because of my sin. IT IS WRITTEN that He has forgiven me ALL trespasses and wiped out ALL requirements against me at the cross. My sleep is not conditional on perfect confession. There is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus. The BARAK blessing over me is based on COVENANT, not my confession track record. IT IS WRITTEN that the blood of Jesus cleanses me from ALL sin—even the ones I can't remember. I receive rest NOW as a son, not after I've performed perfect repentance. My Father runs toward me with acceptance, not accusation.
The Father isn't keeping you awake until you confess perfectly. He's running toward you like the prodigal's father who didn't demand an explanation before throwing the party. The thief got Paradise with zero cleanup time—you get rest the same way.
