"My body's limitations prove I'm being punished or God made a mistake with me"
How it sounds in your head: I watch younger women move freely while I shuffle with my walker. Every doctor appointment reveals another thing breaking down. Maybe if I'd had more faith, prayed harder, lived better—maybe then God would have made me whole. My disabilities feel like divine rejection.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Enemy twisting natural aging into evidence of God's displeasure, using religious teaching that equates physical wholeness with spiritual favor
Every mirror, every trembling hand, every forgotten word screams that something is fundamentally wrong with her. Decades of seeing 'faith healers' skip over the elderly reinforced that her body's limitations equal spiritual deficiency.
Crippled in both feet from age five, hiding in poverty, convinced he was worthless as a 'dead dog.' King David SOUGHT HIM OUT, restored all his grandfather's wealth, gave him a permanent place at the king's table, and declared 'you shall eat at my table always'—not despite his disability, but because of covenant love.
I REFUSE the lie that my body's limitations define my worth or prove God's rejection. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness, that His grace is SUFFICIENT—not when I'm physically whole, but right now, in this body, with this walker, with these trembling hands. I am NOT a mistake. I am NOT being punished. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, that ALL His works are wonderful, that I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST—not because my body performs, but because His blood covers. Like Mephibosheth eating at the King's table despite crippled feet, I have a PERMANENT seat at my Father's table, and He runs toward me with the ring, the robe, and the embrace—wheelchair and all.
Your Father isn't waiting for your body to work better before He delights in you—He's running toward you NOW, seeing not your limitations but His beloved daughter. Every limitation you see as disqualification, He sees as opportunity to display that His power doesn't need your strength, that His love isn't conditional on your mobility, that you are complete in Christ regardless of what your body can or cannot do.
