"My body's failure to conceive proves I wasn't faithful enough in my younger years."
How it sounds in your head: Other women who seemed less spiritual had babies easily. I must have had secret sin, insufficient devotion, not enough consecration. My barrenness was a report card on my spiritual life—and I failed.
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
-- John 1:12-13Religion creates fertility formulas (prayer + fasting + righteousness = babies), making conception contingent on spiritual performance rather than covenant blessing.
She remembers 'less godly' women getting pregnant while she remained barren despite devotions, church attendance, and sincere seeking. The math seemed clear: their fertility proved God's favor; her barrenness proved His disapproval.
Elizabeth was 'righteous before God, walking in all commandments blameless,' yet barren into old age—proving fertility isn't a righteousness report card. When God's timing came, she conceived immediately and bore John the Baptist—her 'failure' became the forerunner of Messiah.
I REFUSE the lie that barrenness proved spiritual failure. IT IS WRITTEN that Elizabeth was RIGHTEOUS and BLAMELESS yet remained barren—infertility is NOT a spiritual report card. My righteousness is a GIFT (2 Corinthians 5:21), not an achievement measured by biological outcomes. IT IS WRITTEN that birth comes from GOD'S will, not human performance. I was faithful then, and I am righteous NOW—not by works but by the blood of Jesus. The BARAK blessing covers me regardless of what my womb did or didn't do. I am APPROVED, BELOVED, BLAMELESS!
The Father sees you like Elizabeth—blameless and righteous even in barrenness, never measuring your worth by biological outcomes. He was never grading you; He was LOVING you. Your infertility didn't diminish His approval one millisecond—you were always His beloved daughter, complete and perfect in Christ.
