Not Enough
"My body is failing and falling apart. God has abandoned me to suffering."

How it sounds in your head: Pain is constant now. Your body doesn't work like it used to. You need medications just to get through the day, and even then, the aches and limitations remind you that everything is shutting down. You wonder why God won't heal you or at least take away the pain if He really loves you.

Psalm 34:18

"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit."

-- Psalm 34:18
Enemy whispers: Your failing body proves God has abandoned you. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Psalm 34:18 - 'The Lord is NEAR to those who have a broken heart.' He isn't distant in your pain - He's CLOSEST when you hurt. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 53:4, 'Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows' - Jesus doesn't watch your suffering from a distance; He CARRIES it with you. Your body may be failing, but His presence is unwavering. He entered human flesh, experienced physical pain and death, and conquered it so that you could face it WITHOUT FEAR. Whether He heals your body now or gives you a resurrected one soon, His love never wavers.
Quick Truth: LIE: My failing body means God abandoned me. TRUTH: The Lord is NEAR to the brokenhearted. His presence is closest in your pain. Psalm 34:18

Religion taught that suffering means God is distant or testing you, rather than seeing Him as present and compassionate in the pain.

Why this feels true:

The pain is real and unrelenting. You've prayed for healing and it hasn't come. Your body feels like it's betraying you, and God feels silent.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Paul with his thorn

Paul had a physical affliction he called a 'thorn in the flesh' and begged God three times to remove it. God's response wasn't healing but 'My grace is SUFFICIENT for you' - God's presence and power in the weakness was the greater gift than removal of the pain.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my failing body means God has abandoned me. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord is NEAR to the brokenhearted, not distant. My physical pain doesn't indicate His absence - He is CLOSEST when I hurt most. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 4:16, 'Though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.' My body may be shutting down, but my spirit is being prepared for glory. God's grace is SUFFICIENT for me, and His strength is perfected in my physical weakness. I am not abandoned - I am held, carried, and deeply loved by the Father who sees every pain and will soon wipe away every tear. The BARAK blessing includes His presence in my suffering, and I receive His comfort now.

But God actually:

The Father isn't punishing you with this failing body or teaching you a lesson through pain. He's walking through the valley WITH you, carrying what you cannot bear, and preparing to give you a body that will never hurt again.
