"My body is disgusting and I'm ashamed to be seen."
How it sounds in your head: You look in the mirror and see every flaw magnified. You avoid intimate moments with your husband because you can't bear the thought of him seeing your aging body. You refuse to be in photos with your grandchildren because you hate how you look.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14Enemy + world: Satan whispers shame; culture worships youth and airbrushed perfection, making aging bodies shameful.
Your body has changed dramatically—hormones, gravity, scars from childbearing. Every magazine and social media feed shows women half your age with perfect bodies. You feel invisible or disgusting, never just acceptable.
Leah had 'weak eyes'—she wasn't the beautiful sister, and Jacob didn't want her. Yet God OPENED HER WOMB and made her the mother of Judah, through whom JESUS came. Her 'undesirable' body birthed the Messianic line instantly when God opened her womb.
I REFUSE the lie that my body is disgusting. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—not was, but AM. My body is a testimony of God's faithfulness through every season. IT IS WRITTEN that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and what God calls His dwelling place, I will not call shameful. I am blessed in my body, coming in and going out, because I am Abraham's seed and heir according to the promise. The BARAK blessing rests on this body—the same covenant protection that covered imperfect people covers me. I declare my body GOOD because God says so, and His opinion is the only one that matters.
The Father is running toward you with a robe to cover the shame the enemy put on you—not because your body needs hiding, but because He's clothing you with His approval. He's throwing a party to celebrate THIS version of you, right now, and He's already prepared the feast because He's been waiting to reveal how beautiful you are to Him.
