"My body is changing in embarrassing ways and everyone can see I'm becoming awkward."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone notices. Your body is doing weird things you can't control. You look awkward and feel uncomfortable in your own skin. The boys notice, the girls whisper, and you just want to hide until this phase is over.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14Enemy attack on identity through shame about God's created design, amplified by culture's impossible beauty standards.
Her body IS changing—breasts developing, curves appearing, periods starting, acne emerging. She feels all eyes on her, and the world has taught her these changes make her either too sexual or too awkward, never just right.
Esther was a young girl whose beauty was noticed and who went through body preparation, yet she found favor with everyone who saw her—not because she earned it but because favor was on her life. Her physical development became part of saving an entire nation instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that my changing body is embarrassing or awkward. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—every change, every development is Father's marvelous work in me. My body is not a source of shame; it's the temple of the Holy Spirit, created in the image of God and called VERY GOOD. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in my body, blessed in the city and in the field, blessed coming in and going out. I carry the blessing of Abraham—protected, favored, celebrated. I am not too much or too little; I am EXACTLY as Father designed me, and His design is WONDERFUL.
Your Father isn't embarrassed by your body or the changes happening—He DESIGNED every detail with love. He's running toward you saying 'You are My beautiful daughter, fearfully and wonderfully made, and I delight in you,' not when you figure out your body but RIGHT NOW in this very moment.
