"My body is broken because creation is cursed and there's no real hope until heaven."
How it sounds in your head: This world is fallen. Bodies break. Pain is normal here. Sure there's heaven someday, but for now just endure. Resign yourself. Suffering is the Christian life.
"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."
-- Romans 8:11Religion: Defeatist theology makes Jesus' resurrection FUTURE only, ignoring that resurrection power is available NOW through the Spirit.
Romans 8 talks about groaning and waiting for redemption of the body. Christians get sick and die. Suffering is everywhere. Seems like we just endure until heaven.
Fell from third story window during Paul's long sermon, died from the fall ('taken up dead'). Paul went down, embraced him, said 'Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him' - INSTANTLY resurrected, walked back upstairs, ate, lived.
I REFUSE the lie that I must just wait for heaven. IT IS WRITTEN: The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me and gives LIFE to my mortal body NOW. Resurrection power is present tense, not just future. Christ took my infirmities and carried my sicknesses (Matthew 8:17) - past tense, FINISHED WORK. IT IS WRITTEN: By His stripes I WAS healed (1 Peter 2:24) - already done at the cross. The BARAK blessing includes 'none of these diseases' (Exodus 15:26). I call my body to align with resurrection power NOW.
The Father didn't tell the prodigal 'wait for heaven for the feast' - He threw the party NOW. God's will is life, health, and wholeness in your body NOW, not just someday. Heaven started the moment you believed.
