"My best contribution is behind me; now I'm just taking up space."
How it sounds in your head: You had your run. You did some good things when you were younger, had more energy, were more useful. Now you're just... here. Consuming resources, slowing things down, in the way of progress.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6World system measuring worth by productivity and contribution, making identity performance-based.
You're not producing like you used to, your stamina is limited, and you see younger people accomplishing in months what took you years. The metrics say you're declining.
Simeon waited his entire life to see the Messiah, finally encountering Jesus as an old man when Mary and Joseph brought Him to the temple. His whole life's purpose culminated in one moment in his final years—holding the Savior and prophesying over Him—proving your GREATEST moment can come at the END.
I REFUSE the lie that my best is behind me or that I'm just taking up space. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me will COMPLETE it until the day of Jesus Christ—every day I'm alive is a day He's still working and finishing what He started. IT IS WRITTEN that Simeon's whole life led to ONE moment in his old age when he held the Messiah, proving the culmination can come at the end. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, not based on what I've produced but on WHO I am in Him. My worth is positional, not performance-based, and the BARAK blessing flows through me by covenant, not by contribution.
The Father isn't tolerating your continued existence—He's orchestrating every remaining day toward the completion of something only THIS season can produce. What you call 'taking up space,' He calls 'strategic positioning for the finale.'
