"Money problems mean we're incompatible and this marriage was a mistake"
How it sounds in your head: We fight about money constantly. My parents never fought like this. Maybe we're just too different - she's a spender, I'm a saver. Feels like evidence we weren't meant to be together.
"For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy."
-- 1 Corinthians 7:14Enemy twisting financial friction into identity incompatibility, making money the measure of covenant
The fights are exhausting, the differences feel fundamental, and divorce statistics around money conflicts seem to confirm it.
They had major dysfunction - she conspired with Jacob to deceive Isaac, massive family conflict. Yet 'Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord BLESSED him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous.'
I REFUSE the lie that money conflict equals incompatibility. IT IS WRITTEN that covenant SANCTIFIES - it doesn't depend on alignment, it CREATES alignment. Our marriage is not a mistake; it's under the BARAK blessing of Abraham through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN that Isaac prospered a hundredfold in the MIDDLE of family dysfunction. My provision doesn't wait for perfect agreement. My Father is blessing us WHILE we learn, not AFTER we perform.
Your Father isn't waiting for you two to 'get it together' before He blesses you - He's blessing you IN the friction because covenant overrides compatibility. Isaac became VERY prosperous while his family was a mess.
