"If I don't control the finances now, I'm being irresponsible and setting up future disaster."
How it sounds in your head: Someone has to be the adult here. If I don't take over completely - all accounts, all decisions, all oversight - we'll end up bankrupt. Trusting them again is foolish. Wise stewardship means I have to control everything to protect our family.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
-- Proverbs 3:5-6Source: World's wisdom that security comes from control, opposite of Kingdom rest that flows from trusting the Father's provision through covenant.
The practical reality of debt and broken trust makes control feel like responsibility, not fear. You've been hurt and your brain is screaming 'NEVER AGAIN' which sounds like wisdom. Taking charge feels like protecting your family, not punishing your spouse.
God provided manna daily but some tried to CONTROL the supply by hoarding extra. The hoarded manna bred WORMS and STANK. Those who trusted God's daily provision had exactly what they needed. Control created rot; trust created provision.
I REFUSE the lie that my control protects my family. IT IS WRITTEN that I trust in the LORD with ALL my heart, not in my ability to manage every dollar. God shall SUPPLY ALL MY NEED according to HIS riches, not according to my perfect control. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the BARAK covenant where provision flows from GOD'S FAITHFULNESS, not my management skills - He commanded blessing on my storehouse and made me the head not the tail by COVENANT. The Father is my source, not my control. I release my white-knuckle grip and receive His peace that guards my finances.
The Father is whispering, 'You're trying to BE Me for your family - let Me be God while you be the son who rests in My provision.' He's giving you the robe of My-faithfulness-clothes-you, the ring of authority that comes from trust not control, and sandals that walk in peace because you know the blessing flows from covenant, not from your perfect management.
