"Modern fertility treatments prove I'm trying to force God's hand and lack faith."
How it sounds in your head: People at church say if I really trusted God, I wouldn't need IVF, fertility drugs, or medical intervention. They say it's 'playing God,' that I should just wait on His timing. Maybe they're right—maybe pursuing treatment means I don't have enough faith, that I'm trying to manufacture what God should supernaturally provide. But I'm running out of time, and I don't know what to do.
"Jesus answered and said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.'"
-- Luke 5:31-32Religious teaching that creates false dichotomy between faith and medicine, making medical intervention evidence of weak faith or manipulating God.
Religious voices offering simplistic 'just trust God' formulas create guilt around practical action. Fear of 'missing God's best' by taking wrong approach paralyzes decision-making.
Deathly ill, God sent word through Isaiah he would die. Hezekiah prayed, God changed His mind and added fifteen years. Then God prescribed MEDICINE—a poultice of figs. Prayer PLUS practical treatment, both from God.
I REFUSE the lie that medical fertility treatment proves I lack faith or am forcing God's hand. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus affirmed physicians, and Luke the PHYSICIAN wrote Scripture under God's inspiration. God gave humanity medical knowledge as a GIFT, and using it doesn't mean I'm 'playing God'—it means I'm stewarding the resources He provided. IT IS WRITTEN: Hezekiah received both miraculous healing AND medical prescription from the SAME GOD. Faith and medicine are not enemies. I am Abraham's seed, which means I'm BLESSED when I go to the doctor and BLESSED when I pray for miracles—because blessing is about COVENANT, not methodology. I declare FREEDOM to pursue treatment without guilt, knowing God works through prayer AND physicians. My faith is in HIM, not in avoiding medical help.
The Father isn't waiting to see if you'll choose 'spiritual' over 'natural' to prove your worthiness. He's the one who gave doctors the knowledge they have, and He's not offended when you use it. He worked through Luke the physician to write Scripture—He can work through your fertility doctor to bring life.
