"Miraculous healings in the Bible were exaggerated or symbolic, not literal physical events that happen today."
How it sounds in your head: My college professors explained these stories as metaphors for spiritual healing. Nobody's actually growing back limbs or being raised from the dead—that stuff makes Christianity look like a fairy tale to my educated friends.
"And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength."
-- Acts 3:7Source: Enlightenment rationalism that reduced God to natural laws, making the supernatural intellectually embarrassing to educated believers.
I need to be taken seriously in academic and professional spaces, and claiming actual miracles happen sounds crazy. Plus I haven't personally seen undeniable miracles, so maybe the Bible writers just embellished to make a point.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet from age five, hidden in exile—then David restored him to the king's table permanently with full provision. One encounter with covenant kindness reversed a lifetime of physical limitation and poverty instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that God's miracles are metaphors for weak-minded people. IT IS WRITTEN that a lame man's ankle bones received strength IMMEDIATELY—not symbolically, but physically. My God spoke galaxies into existence; reshaping tissue is nothing to Him. I am blessed with the BARAK of Abraham, the covenant that protected liars and deceivers—how much more does it heal my actual body under the BETTER covenant! IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 103:3 that He heals ALL my diseases, not 'spiritualizes' them. I walk in resurrection power, and the same Jesus who made blind eyes see is making whole what's broken in me RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't impressed by your intellectual sophistication—He's running toward you with the same literal power that rebuilt Lazarus' decomposed organs. While you're trying to explain away miracles to fit in classrooms, He's waiting to wreck your naturalism with an encounter so undeniable you'll look crazy to everyone and won't care.
