"Men my age don't make new friends. It's not how life works at this stage."
How it sounds in your head: Friendship happens in school, maybe work. But at 90? People are dying, not connecting. The season for new relationships ended decades ago. I missed my window.
"Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:19World system declaring arbitrary 'seasons' and 'windows' that contradict God's perpetual NOW and His ability to do NEW things regardless of calendar.
Cultural narrative is unanimous: elderly people maintain old relationships (maybe) but don't START new ones. Retirement homes feel like waiting rooms, not networking events. Every example around you confirms: this stage is about ENDINGS, not BEGINNINGS.
Abraham at 75+ years old (already elderly by ancient standards) met Melchizedek for the FIRST time—a friendship so significant it's referenced throughout Scripture as picture of Christ. ONE NEW DIVINE CONNECTION in old age became ETERNALLY SIGNIFICANT. God brings quality over quantity, regardless of age.
I REFUSE the lie that my age disqualifies me from new friendships or divine connections. IT IS WRITTEN that God does a NEW thing and NOW it springs forth—not 'it used to spring forth in youth' but NOW, in THIS season, at THIS age. My Father makes roads in wildernesses and rivers in deserts. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out under the BARAK—that includes relational movement at 90 just as much as at 19. God is bringing NEW, SIGNIFICANT, DIVINELY ORCHESTRATED friendships into my life RIGHT NOW. I receive them. Age is irrelevant to Heaven's connection strategy.
Your Father isn't looking at your age thinking, 'Too late for friends.' He's thinking, 'NOW I can bring the RIGHT ones—he's finally got the wisdom to recognize quality, the time to invest deeply, and the proximity to eternity to make these connections ETERNAL.' Your best friendships might be forming right now for a reason: they're the ones you'll continue in Heaven.
