"Love is something you earn through performance. I haven't earned it yet."
How it sounds in your head: If you get good grades, win games, make people proud—THEN you'll be worthy of love. But you haven't achieved enough yet. Love is the trophy for winners, and you're still losing.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8World system that commodifies love as reward for achievement, creating performance treadmill with no finish line.
You DO get more attention when you succeed. Parents smile bigger at A's than C's. Coaches praise winners. This seems like proof that love is conditional on performance.
The thief was literally NAILED to a cross for crimes he admitted committing. No time to do good works, read his Bible, go to church, or prove himself. He simply said 'Jesus, remember me.' Jesus' response: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Instant. Full. Salvation.
I REFUSE the lie that love is earned through performance. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL A SINNER, Christ died for me. IT IS WRITTEN that salvation is by grace, NOT OF WORKS. I am Abraham's seed—God blessed Abraham while he was LYING. The BARAK wasn't based on report cards or trophies. The prodigal got the party while smelling like pigs—no 90-day prove-yourself period. God's love is GIFT, not wage. I am the Father's delight RIGHT NOW, not when I finally achieve enough. The robe is already on me.
Your Father isn't holding love just out of reach waiting for you to jump higher. He already clothed you, fed you, and threw the party while you were still far off. Performance gets applause; sonship gets INHERITANCE. You're already IN.
