"I've struggled with the same sin or weakness for so long that God must be tired of me."
How it sounds in your head: I've confessed this same thing for decades. The same temper, the same jealousy, the same critical thoughts. I'm 80-something years old and STILL struggling with this. Surely God is tired of hearing about it. Surely He's disappointed I never conquered it.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religious lie that God's patience has limits and that persistent struggle means disqualification—contradicts infinite grace and patience.
You've had 60+ years as a believer to 'get this right,' and the fact that you haven't feels like ultimate failure. The enemy uses the length of the struggle as 'proof' that you're hopeless.
Peter denied Jesus THREE TIMES after swearing he'd die for Him—betrayed his best friend at the worst moment. Days later, Jesus didn't bring it up, didn't require penance; He asked Peter three times 'Do you love Me?' and RESTORED him to 'Feed My sheep' instantly, made him foundation of the church.
I REFUSE the lie that God is tired of my repeated struggles. IT IS WRITTEN that His compassions fail NOT and are NEW every morning—not when I finally conquer, but EVERY DAY. Like Peter who denied Jesus and was INSTANTLY restored to leadership, my failures don't disqualify me. IT IS WRITTEN: There is NO condemnation for those in Christ. God isn't disappointed—He's DELIGHTED in me because I'm IN CHRIST. The BARAK blessing covered repeated liars and deceivers; it covers my persistent struggles. His faithfulness is GREAT, and His patience is INFINITE. I am LOVED, not tolerated.
The Father doesn't keep a count of how many times you've struggled with the same thing—His mercies reset every morning like clockwork, fresh and new as if it's the FIRST time. He's not sighing in disappointment; He's singing over you with delight, celebrating your identity, not cataloging your struggles.
