"I've sacrificed so much that I've become invisible. My identity evaporated into everyone else's needs."
How it sounds in your head: You gave up your career for kids, your body for pregnancy, your sleep for night feedings, your social life for family—and somewhere in all that giving, YOU disappeared. You don't even know who you are anymore outside of what you do for others.
"My dove, my perfect one, is the only one, the only one of her mother, the favorite of the one who bore her. The daughters saw her and called her blessed, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her."
-- Song of Solomon 6:9Religious lie that martyrdom equals godliness, hiding the truth that God never asked you to disappear.
You can't remember the last time you did something just for you. Your hobbies are gone, your dreams shelved, your personality dimmed. You're a shell of who you used to be, poured out until there's nothing left.
Mary poured out an entire jar of expensive perfume—a year's wages—on Jesus' feet while everyone criticized her extravagant waste. Jesus defended her, saying she did a beautiful thing and it would be remembered forever—her act of worship didn't erase her, it REVEALED her.
I REFUSE the lie that I've disappeared into sacrifice or lost myself in serving others. IT IS WRITTEN that I am God's 'only one'—unique, irreplaceable, never duplicated. My identity is not in what I DO but in WHOSE I AM—I am the daughter of the King, and that never changes. IT IS WRITTEN that I am complete in Christ—I lack nothing, I am not diminished. The BARAK blessing means I am favored and marked for abundance. I am WHOLE, SEEN, and CELEBRATED for who I am, not just what I give.
The Father doesn't want your erasure—He wants your wholeness. Every act of service you've given, He saw YOU in it, not the disappearance of you. He's not asking you to vanish—He's inviting you to be fully alive in His love while you give.
