"I've rejected the Holy Spirit too many times and now He's left me."
How it sounds in your head: I felt God calling me and I ignored Him. I did it again and again. Now I don't feel anything anymore and I'm scared He gave up on me. What if I pushed Him away one too many times?
"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable."
-- Romans 11:29Source: Religious teaching that God's patience has a quota, contradicting His nature as the Father who never stops seeking the lost sheep.
The numbness feels like evidence of abandonment, and she's counting her failures like strikes against her. She doesn't know that God's patience isn't measured in human terms.
Jonah didn't just ignore God's call—he RAN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, got on a boat fleeing from God's presence, caused a storm that endangered everyone, got thrown overboard, and spent three days in a fish. When he finally prayed, God IMMEDIATELY delivered him and gave him the SAME assignment again—no punishment, no probation, instant restoration.
I REFUSE the lie that I rejected the Holy Spirit too many times. IT IS WRITTEN that the gifts and calling of God are IRREVOCABLE—God doesn't take back His call on my life. My past 'no' doesn't cancel His eternal 'yes.' IT IS WRITTEN that He will NEVER leave me nor forsake me. The numbness I feel is NOT His absence; it's the enemy's lie trying to convince me to give up. I am ABRAHAM'S SEED, and the BARAK blessing doesn't have a quota of failures. God is STILL pursuing me, STILL calling me, STILL loving me RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't keeping count of how many times you said no—He's the shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to find the ONE. Your numbness isn't His rejection; it's the enemy trying to convince you to stop seeking what has never stopped seeking you.
