"I've lied to my parents so many times about where I'm going and what I'm doing—I'm a deceiver at my core."
How it sounds in your head: You look them in the eye and lie smoothly. You've built elaborate cover stories, deleted texts, hidden apps. You're not just making mistakes; you're becoming a pathological liar. Your family trusts you less every day, and they're right to—you can't be trusted.
"Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your firstborn; I have done just as you told me.'"
-- Genesis 27:19Enemy: Twisting teenage autonomy struggles into identity-level condemnation, making normal developmental boundary-testing feel like criminal sociopathy.
The lies have become reflexive—you don't even think before you spin stories now. Your parents' hurt faces when they catch you cut deep, and you see yourself becoming someone you don't respect, proving their worst fears about you.
Abraham lied TWICE about Sarah being his sister to save his own skin—fear-based deception that put his wife in danger. God didn't revoke the covenant, didn't punish Abraham—instead He PLAGUED THE KINGS who took Sarah and sent Abraham away RICHER both times.
I REFUSE the lie that my deception defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that Jacob lied to his father's face and Isaac declared 'he SHALL BE BLESSED'—the BARAK blessing couldn't be reversed even by fraud. Abraham lied twice and left richer, Isaac lied and became wealthy, and all of them remained in covenant. My lies don't change my identity as God's son. I am not becoming a deceiver; I am a righteous man learning to walk in truth because of WHO I AM, not to earn who I am. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ. The Father sees my fear and struggle, not a criminal. I am covenant, not because I'm honest, but because HE is faithful.
The Father knows you're lying because you're afraid—afraid of punishment, control, losing freedom, disappointing them. He's not shocked or disgusted; He's the Father of Jacob the Deceiver who sees past the lies to the terrified son underneath, already planning your breakthrough not after you stop lying but WHILE you're still learning to trust.
