"I've had enough already; wanting more at my age shows poor character and greed."
How it sounds in your head: I should be grateful for what I've been given over my lifetime. Wanting more now, when I'm near the end, probably reveals something ugly in my heart. Good men are content; greedy men always want more.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Source: World's false definition of contentment as never wanting more, when biblical contentment is peace in any circumstance while still believing for God's best.
He's internalized decades of 'count your blessings' guilt and conflated godly contentment with never desiring increase. Wanting more feels like proof he's not spiritual enough after all these years.
God didn't restore Job to his former level and say 'be content now.' He gave Job TWICE as much as he had before—in his old age, AFTER his suffering, God doubled everything.
I REFUSE the lie that desire for more is greed or poor character. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies all my need according to HIS RICHES, not according to my age or past provision. The BARAK blessing doesn't retire when I do—Abraham was blessed 'in all things' until his death at 175. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous are like trees planted by rivers, bearing fruit in season, and their leaf does not wither. I am that tree. My Father is not done blessing me, providing for me, or prospering me.
Your Father doesn't look at you and think 'he's had enough.' He looks at you with the same abundance mindset He had at creation—MORE than enough, pressed down, shaken together, running over.
