"I've given 40 years to ministry and I'm empty—I have nothing left to pour out."
How it sounds in your head: You sat through another elder meeting feeling hollow. You used to prepare sermons with fire; now you're recycling old notes. Your tank is bone dry. You're leading on fumes and everyone's about to discover you're a fraud.
"He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
-- Isaiah 40:29-31Source: Religion's lie that you're the source instead of the branch; taught you're the reservoir instead of the conduit.
Your body is tired in ways it never was at 35, and the passion you once felt seems like a distant memory. Every counseling session, every hospital visit, every sermon drains you because you've been trying to produce fruit instead of abide.
Elijah was so burnt out after defeating 450 prophets that he wanted to die, sat under a tree depleted and suicidal. God didn't rebuke him or demand more ministry—He let him sleep, sent an angel with food twice, and in that rest Elijah received strength for 40 days of journey.
I REFUSE the lie that I am empty and have nothing left. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives power to the weak and increases strength to those with no might. I am not the source—I am the branch, and Christ the Vine flows through me effortlessly. IT IS WRITTEN in John 15:5 that apart from Him I can do nothing, but abiding in Him, I bear much fruit automatically. My weakness is not disqualification—it's the exact place His strength is perfected. I receive the BARAK blessing of Abraham—supernatural enablement that has nothing to do with my capacity and everything to do with covenant. I am refilled RIGHT NOW by the One who never runs dry.
The Father is not disappointed in your exhaustion—He's inviting you to stop being the source and start being the receiver. Like the prodigal who returned empty, the Father doesn't lecture about your depletion; He clothes you, feeds you, and restores you instantly because that's who HE is.
