"God used me up and threw me away like a broken tool."
How it sounds in your head: You were useful once. Anointed. People sought your counsel. Now you're a burden. Can't even go to the bathroom alone. God got what He needed from you and now you're obsolete. Used up. Discarded.
"The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.'"
-- Jeremiah 31:3Transactional view of God from religion; believing His love was tied to your usefulness.
The contrast is stark—once you were DOING, now you're just BEING. The activity that defined your relationship with God is gone. The loss of ability feels like loss of value. The silence where there used to be ministry feels like abandonment.
John, the last living apostle, exiled alone on Patmos, couldn't preach to crowds anymore. God didn't discard him—He gave him the GREATEST REVELATION in Scripture. In his isolation and old age, Jesus appeared and said 'Write what you see.' His greatest gift came in his weakness.
I REFUSE the lie that I was just a tool. IT IS WRITTEN that He has loved me with an EVERLASTING love—not conditional on my capacity. I was never valuable because I was USEFUL; I was valuable because I was HIS. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:38-39 that NOTHING can separate me from the love of God—not death, not life, not weakness, not dependence. The BARAK blessing doesn't evaporate when I can't perform; it's COVENANT based on HIS faithfulness, not mine. I am loved NOW, in this bed, as much as I ever was in the pulpit.
The Father isn't done with you—He's just shifting from what you DO to who you ARE. Every ministry moment was Him SHARING His work with you, not NEEDING your work from you. Now He's inviting you into the purest communion: being loved with NOTHING to offer. This is the gospel you preached finally becoming YOUR experience.
