"I've failed so many times in ministry; maybe I was never called in the first place."
How it sounds in your head: Church plants that folded. Programs that failed. People I couldn't help. If I was really called, wouldn't there be more fruit? Maybe I made up the calling.
"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable."
-- Romans 11:29Source: Performance religion that measures calling by uninterrupted success.
He's got a resume of 'failures' that haunt him, and the voice says 'God wouldn't let His called ones fail this much.' The gaps between vision and reality feel like disqualification.
Jesus told Peter 'You will DENY Me three times,' then said 'When you have RETURNED, strengthen your brothers.' The calling INCLUDED the failure and the RESTORATION. Failure was part of the plan.
I REFUSE the lie that failure cancels calling. IT IS WRITTEN that God's gifts and calling are IRREVOCABLE. My stumbles don't erase His voice. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began the work WILL complete it—not 'might,' but WILL. I declare the BARAK blessing over my failures: Jacob deceived and stayed blessed; I fail and stay CALLED. The Father runs to me in my rubble with RESTORATION, not rejection.
The Father is running toward you in your failure field, not waiting for you to rebuild first. He's embracing you while you're still covered in ashes, throwing a party for your RETURN, not your perfection.
