"I've embezzled, stolen from my employer, or committed fraud. I'm a criminal. God can't use someone with a record."
How it sounds in your head: You didn't just make a mistake—you systematically stole. You falsified documents. You might have a record now. Even if you don't, you know what you did. How could God use someone who's a literal thief? Your testimony is tainted. Your witness is shot. You're disqualified.
"This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief."
-- 1 Timothy 1:15Worldly judgment that measures ministry potential by legal record rather than covenant standing.
The crime was deliberate, not impulsive. It required planning, repeated actions, cover-ups. It feels qualitatively different from 'struggles'—it feels like character evidence.
The thief on the cross was a convicted criminal—insurrection, robbery, possibly murder—dying for his crimes. With zero opportunity for restitution or rehabilitation, Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—instant salvation, instant acceptance, instant promise with no works possible.
I REFUSE the lie that my criminal past disqualifies me from God's use. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ came to save sinners, of whom I am CHIEF—and Paul said that after murdering Christians. The thief on the cross was a CONVICTED CRIMINAL and received paradise with zero restitution—just one moment of faith. My testimony isn't tainted—it's POWERFUL because it displays scandalous grace. IT IS WRITTEN that God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise—He SPECIALIZES in using the disqualified. I am under the BARAK blessing by covenant, not by clean record.
The Father isn't running a background check determining if you're ministry-qualified—He already qualified you at the cross. He's not looking at your record; He's looking at HIS Son's righteousness credited to your account, and on that basis, He's releasing calling NOW, not after you've 'proven yourself' to the world.
