"I've been hurt too many times; I can't risk getting close to anyone again."

How it sounds in your head: The betrayals are real—friends who shared your secrets, walked away during crisis, chose sides in your divorce, or slowly ghosted when you needed them most. You've learned that vulnerability equals pain. The walls aren't bitterness; they're survival.

Psalm 147:3

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

-- Psalm 147:3
Enemy whispers: You're damaged goods; better to stay safe behind walls. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Psalm 147:3 - 'He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.' Not 'He might eventually heal if you process it right'—He HEALS. Present tense. Active. He doesn't leave you in the trauma; He BINDS UP the wounds. God isn't asking you to pretend the betrayals didn't happen or 'get over it.' He's declaring that those wounds don't get the final word. He's bringing people who will PROVE that not everyone leaves, not everyone betrays, not everyone weaponizes your vulnerability. You don't have to heal before you risk; He heals you THROUGH safe people.
Quick Truth: LIE: I can't risk being hurt again. TRUTH: God HEALS the brokenhearted and is bringing safe people NOW. (Psalm 147:3)

Trauma: Past relational wounds creating protective strategies that now isolate.

Why this feels true:

The scars are actual. You've been blindsided by people you trusted completely. You've watched friendships you thought were solid evaporate overnight. The evidence says self-protection is wisdom, not fear.

John 21:15-17
Peter

Peter betrayed Jesus three times, denied Him publicly, ran away in His darkest hour—ultimate friendship failure. Jesus didn't shame him or require a probationary period; He restored him with breakfast on the beach and an immediate recommission to leadership.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that past betrayals disqualify me from future belonging. IT IS WRITTEN that God heals the brokenhearted and binds up wounds—He doesn't leave me bleeding behind walls. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, fully loved, fully safe in Him even when people fail me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out—the BARAK blessing surrounds me with favor and PROTECTION, drawing safe people and repelling unsafe ones. No weapon formed against me shall prosper, including the weapon of past relational trauma. The Father ran toward the prodigal who had every reason not to trust, embraced him while he was still defensive and broken, and restored him completely. He's doing that for me RIGHT NOW.

But God actually:

The Father isn't minimizing what happened to you or demanding you trust everyone. He's so FURIOUS about how you've been wounded that He's personally vetting your next friendships, bringing women who will treat your heart like the treasure it is—not because you've healed perfectly, but because He's that protective.
