"I've been an inconvenience from conception; my needs have always been too much."
How it sounds in your head: From the beginning, I required too much—difficult pregnancy, complicated birth, high needs as an infant. I've been 'too much' from day one. Other babies slept; I screamed. Other kids were easy; I was exhausting. My existence has been an imposition on everyone unfortunate enough to deal with me. I'm the burden no one signed up for.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
-- Matthew 11:28Enemy weapon forged from parental exhaustion, being labeled 'difficult child,' medical complications blamed on the child, or caregiver resentment expressed.
You've heard the stories—'You never slept,' 'You were so hard,' 'Your brother was so much easier.' The evidence is in their fatigue, their relief when you left, their lighter demeanor around other people's kids.
Wrestled with God all night, demanding a blessing, literally injuring himself in the struggle, refusing to let go until blessed. God didn't call him 'too much'—He RENAMED him Israel and blessed him for the tenacity.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too much or an inconvenience. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus invites the heavy laden to come to Him for rest. My needs are not a burden to the Father—they're an invitation to His care. I was not too much then, and I'm not too much now. IT IS WRITTEN: His yoke is easy and His burden is light. The BARAK blessing makes me a blessing, not a burden. I am wanted, delighted in, celebrated. I walk in that acceptance NOW, refusing shame for needs God designed me to have.
While exhausted caregivers resented your needs, your Father was running toward you with infinite resources, declaring 'Finally, a son who knows he needs Me'—your dependence was never a burden but a beautiful trust He celebrates.
