Grew up in era of overt son-preference, may have been named masculine name or heard 'we were hoping for a boy' stories. Spent lifetime trying to compensate for being female.
Father's only child, came out dancing to celebrate his victory, instantly became his greatest grief due to his vow. Despite cultural devaluing of daughters and tragic circumstances, she is memorialized—the text honors HER faith and courage, and daughters of Israel commemorated HER annually, not him.
I REFUSE the lie that my gender is disappointing or wrong. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ there is neither male nor female—I am COMPLETE, fully valued, fully blessed. My parents' preference is irrelevant to God's design. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, female body and soul, exactly as intended. I carry the BARAK blessing as Abraham's seed through Christ—no gender clause, no patriarchal limitation. I declare eighty-plus years of CORRECT design, divine femininity, purposeful womanhood. I was never the wrong answer.
