"I've become a disappointment to everyone, including God."
How it sounds in your head: You didn't turn out like you were supposed to. Your kids made choices you can't brag about. Your marriage isn't the testimony you promised. Your body isn't disciplined. Your habits aren't holy. Your parents died disappointed. Your husband settled. Your kids are embarrassed. And God is shaking His head at what you've become after all He invested in you.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-- Romans 8:38-39Religious spirit of performance partnering with shame to distort the Father's heart into the older brother's.
You can list the ways you've failed expectations—yours and others'. The evidence seems overwhelming that you're not who you should have become, and the gap between ideal and reality feels like permanent condemnation.
Five failed marriages, living with a man she wasn't married to, town outcast who came to the well alone to avoid judgment. Jesus didn't lecture her about getting her life together—He offered her LIVING WATER and made her the FIRST EVANGELIST to her entire city THE SAME DAY.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a disappointment to God or anyone else. IT IS WRITTEN that NOTHING can separate me from God's love—not my failures, not my unmet expectations, not my imperfect family, NOTHING. I am not under condemnation because I am IN CHRIST. The BARAK blessing doesn't depend on my performance—it protected LIARS and DECEIVERS and it covers me completely. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me will complete it—He's not disappointed, He's FINISHING what He started. I declare I am His DELIGHT, His BELOVED, His CROWN JEWEL, covered in the righteousness of Jesus, not my résumé.
The Father is running toward you with PRIDE, not disappointment. He sees the woman who's walked through fire and is still standing, still seeking, still hoping—and He's about to show you that your 'disappointing' life is positioned PERFECTLY for the breakthrough assignments He's prepared.
