"I've already made irreversible mistakes, and it's too late to fix the damage I've done."
How it sounds in your head: You replay specific moments—things you said, choices you made, times you weren't there. The regret is crushing because you can't take them back. The damage feels permanent, and the relationship feels irreparably broken.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Enemy using past failures to disqualify present grace and future restoration.
You can see the effects of past mistakes in their current behavior or distance. Time has passed, and you believe the window for redemption is closed.
Peter denied Jesus three times at His worst moment—massive betrayal of the most important relationship. Jesus could have disqualified him permanently. Instead, after the resurrection, Jesus RESTORED him with three questions of love, rebuilding what was broken INSTANTLY. Peter went from denier to church leader in one breakfast conversation.
I REFUSE the lie that it's too late to restore what's been broken in my relationship with my children. IT IS WRITTEN in Joel 2:25 that God RESTORES the years the locust has eaten. My past mistakes are not outside His redemptive reach. I am not disqualified by failure—I am QUALIFIED by the blood of Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that all things work together for GOOD to those who love God—even my failures are being rewritten into a story of grace. The prodigal was restored in 15 MINUTES from pig pen to party. Peter was restored in one CONVERSATION from denier to apostle. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:13 'The LORD will make you the head and not the tail'—the BARAK blessing over my life means RESTORATION is my portion. God is the God of the suddenly, and He can heal years in a moment.
The Father sees you paralyzed by regret, and He's running toward you with the robe of righteousness saying 'I'm not recording your failures—I'm writing a redemption story that will make them weep at My goodness.' He's about to restore in a moment what you thought would take a lifetime, because that's who He is.
