"It's too late to become the husband I should have been all along."
How it sounds in your head: You see it now—all the ways you failed her for decades. Emotionally absent. Workaholic. Impatient. But you can't go back. The damage is done. You're 75—there's no 'starting over' as a good husband now.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Religion teaching that transformation requires TIME and PROCESS rather than instant new creation in Christ.
Decades of established patterns feel immovable. The neurological grooves are deep. Change at this age seems biologically and practically impossible.
Saul spent YEARS as a murderer of Christians—his identity was PERSECUTOR. Jesus appeared, and within THREE DAYS Saul was preaching Christ. Instant transformation. No 'earning trust back' process. Ananias called him 'Brother Saul' immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that it's too late to be the husband God created me to be. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ I am a NEW CREATION—old things PASSED AWAY, all things HAVE BECOME new. I'm not trying to change; I AM CHANGED. My identity isn't 50 years of failure; it's PRESENT-TENSE sonship. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 1:6 that He who BEGAN a good work WILL complete it—and He's not intimidated by my age or my past. The BARAK blessing doesn't require a track record—it protected LIARS and DECEIVERS the moment covenant was cut. I am the head and not the tail IN MY MARRIAGE right now. The Father already sees me as the husband He created—He's not waiting for me to become it.
The Father isn't disappointed in the husband you weren't—He's celebrating the husband you ARE in Christ RIGHT NOW. While you were cataloging decades of failure, He was clothing you in NEW CREATION identity with zero probation period.
