"My marriage is too broken to be restored. We've hurt each other too much."
How it sounds in your head: You look at him and feel nothing but pain. Every memory is tainted. The things said can never be unheard. Your parents are already asking when you'll file. Your friends say you deserve better. Maybe some things really are beyond repair.
"And He said to me, 'Son of man, can these bones live?' So I answered, 'O Lord GOD, You know.'"
-- Ezekiel 37:3Enemy lie that Jesus' blood has limitations and some messes are too big for God's redemption.
The wound feels too deep, the betrayal too real, the silence too long. You've watched your parents' dead marriage or your friends' parents divorce, and this feels exactly the same—past the point of no return.
God told Hosea to take back his wife who had been a prostitute, who had betrayed him repeatedly, who was being sold as a slave. Hosea bought her back, and God used their restored marriage as a picture of His relentless love for unfaithful Israel—proving no marriage is beyond His redemption power.
I REFUSE the lie that my marriage is beyond repair. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes dead bones live again, and what He joins together, NOTHING can destroy. My marriage is not defined by what we've done to each other but by what Christ has done for us. IT IS WRITTEN that love covers a multitude of sins, and His love is being poured into this covenant right now. I am the blessed of Abraham, and the BARAK blessing protects my marriage from the curse of divorce. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is raising love from the ashes in my home. What God has joined, God is healing—NOW.
The Father is not waiting for you both to get it together first—He's already running toward your marriage with the robe of restoration. Like He pursued Hosea's unfaithful wife, He's pursuing both of you with relentless, irrational, covenant love that doesn't give up.
