"It's selfish to ask God for money when I already lived my life."
How it sounds in your head: You had your turn. You had decades of income and life. There are young families struggling—it's greedy to ask for provision at 75. You should just accept a simple life and stop wanting things. Asking for money now is selfish and immature.
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:12-14Religious poverty spirit that makes humility equal to lack and demonizes desire for provision.
You feel embarrassed praying for money when you 'should' have it figured out by now. It seems more spiritual to just accept less. Other people's needs seem more urgent than yours.
At age 85, after wandering 40 years in the wilderness, Caleb didn't ask for a retirement village—he asked for the MOUNTAIN with the giants on it. God gave it to him, he conquered it, and he flourished in his inheritance in old age—demonstrating strength and blessing when others were winding down.
I REFUSE the lie that it's selfish to ask God for provision at my age. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous bear fruit in old age and remain fresh and flourishing. My Father's will is that I prosper in ALL things at EVERY age. Age doesn't disqualify me from abundance—Caleb took his mountain at 85. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:8 that the Lord commands blessing on my storehouses NOW. I receive financial blessing without shame because I'm a daughter, and good fathers provide for their children at EVERY stage of life.
Your Father doesn't have an age cutoff for blessing. He's not rolling His eyes at your prayers for provision—He's delighted that you're asking, because good fathers LOVE to give good gifts to their children, whether they're 7 or 77.
