"It's greedy to want more than just enough; I should be content with less."
How it sounds in your head: I've been told to be content with what I have and not be greedy. Wanting more feels selfish. Maybe I should just be happy with the basics and not dream of anything bigger.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religion twisting contentment (Philippians 4:11) into a command to stay small and not desire increase.
Verses about contentment get quoted when I express desires for more. It feels like wanting anything beyond survival is ungrateful or greedy, especially when others have less.
Isaac sowed in famine and 'reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous' (Genesis 26:12-13). God didn't give him 'just enough'—He gave him SO MUCH the Philistines envied him.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting more than survival is greedy. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 3:20 that God does EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think. Contentment doesn't mean settling—it means trusting God in every season while He increases me. The BARAK blessing promises ABUNDANT prosperity (Deuteronomy 28:11), not barely scraping by. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:10 that Jesus came to give me life MORE ABUNDANTLY. I receive overflow, increase, and supernatural multiplication without shame.
Your Father isn't frowning when you dream big—He's the one who put those dreams in you. He's running toward you with the HUNDREDFOLD return, the overflowing blessing, the 'more than enough,' just like He did for Isaac in the middle of a famine.
