"Intrusive thoughts at my age mean I'm losing my salvation or becoming demonized"
How it sounds in your head: I've had these horrible thoughts I never had before - violent, blasphemous, sexual. After a lifetime of faith, is the enemy taking over? Am I being judged?
"Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
-- 2 Corinthians 10:5Source: Enemy + religion - demonic harassment combined with false teaching that intrusive thoughts equal sin or indicate spiritual state.
The thoughts are vivid, disturbing, and feel completely unlike you. You've heard teaching that 'as a man thinks in his heart, so is he,' so these thoughts must mean something terrible about your soul.
Satan afflicted Job with physical torment, and Job's own wife told him to curse God. Yet God declared Job righteous throughout, and when Satan's attack ended, God restored everything instantly - double honor, not punishment.
I REFUSE the lie that intrusive thoughts mean I'm demonized or losing salvation. IT IS WRITTEN that I take thoughts captive - meaning they're INVADERS, not my identity. The enemy shoots fiery darts at my mind, but Ephesians 6:16 says the shield of faith quenches them ALL. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 - there is NO condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, and that includes no condemnation for thoughts I hate. I am Abraham's seed, sealed by the Holy Spirit, covered by the BARAK blessing that protected Jacob even when he schemed. These are attacks to resist, not sins to repent of.
The Father knows the difference between an attack on your mind and the meditation of your heart. He's not recording your intrusive thoughts in a ledger - He's providing the shield of faith to quench them, and He sees you as righteous, just as He did Job under assault.
