"I'm under spiritual attack because I'm doing something wrong or lack protection"
How it sounds in your head: If I were really walking right with God, would I be going through this? Maybe my armor has gaps because I don't pray enough or my faith is weak. I must be doing something that's making me vulnerable to attack. Christians who are really right with God don't struggle like this.
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
-- Ephesians 6:12Religious teaching that spiritual warfare indicates personal failure rather than being a normal experience for kingdom citizens.
When you see other believers seemingly at peace while you're under assault, it appears your spiritual life is deficient. Warfare feels like punishment for inadequacy rather than proof you're a threat to darkness.
Paul was stoned, dragged out of the city, and left for DEAD—then immediately got up, went BACK into the city, and the next day traveled preaching that 'we must through many tribulations enter the kingdom.' Attacks didn't indicate Paul was doing something wrong—they confirmed he was doing something RIGHT.
I REFUSE the lie that spiritual attack means I'm doing something wrong. IT IS WRITTEN that we wrestle against principalities and powers—warfare is NORMAL. Jesus promised tribulation in the world but declared He has overcome. Attacks don't indicate my failure; they confirm I'm a threat to darkness. IT IS WRITTEN that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I am fully protected by the blood of Jesus and the BARAK blessing that shielded Abraham even in his worst moments. I am not vulnerable; I am VICTORIOUS because Christ already won.
Your Father is saying, 'The enemy doesn't waste ammunition on non-threats. You're under attack because you're DANGEROUS to hell, not because you're doing something wrong.' Like the prodigal, you think the attack proves you're unworthy, but He's running toward you saying 'You're MY CHILD—that's why the enemy is afraid.'
