"I'm too old and weak to resist the devil; he's overpowering me now."
How it sounds in your head: When I was younger I felt strong in faith. Now I can barely stay awake, can barely think clearly. I don't have the energy to fight spiritual battles anymore. He's taking advantage of my weakness.
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
-- James 4:7Enemy: Equating physical weakness with spiritual vulnerability, making her think resistance requires human strength instead of Christ's finished work.
Mental fog, physical exhaustion, and medication make her feel defenseless. The enemy attacks when she's most tired, making her think his power has increased when actually her awareness of his lies has just gotten harder to battle through.
Caleb was 85 years old and said 'Give me THIS mountain where the giants are.' Everyone else saw giants; he saw victory. God gave him INSTANT victory over the giants. Age meant NOTHING. The battle was the Lord's, not Caleb's strength.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too weak to resist the devil. IT IS WRITTEN that when I resist the devil, HE WILL FLEE. Not maybe. WILL. My resistance isn't based on my age or strength—it's based on the NAME and BLOOD of Jesus. His strength is PERFECTED in my weakness. IT IS WRITTEN that greater is He who is IN ME than he who is in the world. The Spirit who raised Christ from the dead LIVES IN ME. Satan must flee at the name of JESUS from my lips, regardless of my age or condition. I am MORE than a conqueror.
Your Father doesn't need your strength—He needs your YES. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you at full power. Your age doesn't diminish His authority speaking through you.
